Long term care insurance is designed to cover some or all of the costs associated with the services needed to assist you with your activities of daily living. This type of insurance covers chronic care that traditional health insurance does not. It also helps to protect assets that would otherwise have to be used to pay for this care. Many people plan for retirement but few people think about what will happen to that plan if they or their spouse were to need Long Term Care. Some people think their long term care needs will be covered by major medical policies, Medicare or Medicaid. Although that can be true, most often it is not. Individuals and their families end up paying for care.
